So far, it has provided services to more than 10 automotive factories, dozens of consumer-electronics manufacturers, and a number of Internet and mobile Internet service providers around the globe.
NavInfo digital map services have fully covered all highways, national and provincial roads, and county and township roads, and have achieved non-intermittent guidance of all cities, counties, villages, and townships nationwide (including Hong Kong and Macao) with nearly 20 million POIs (Points of Interests); the services fully utilize the field acquisition mode to ensure reliability of data and have successively passed TS 16949 and Automotive SPICE certifications. NavInfo adopts quick update measures and infuses more in-depth information to the data. With the onsite data acquisition and field validation by the largest field operation teams in China, the integration of aerial photography mapping results and high-precision satellite images, and the utilization of the industry-leading levels of high-precision acquisition technologies and independently researched production technology and development platform, NavInfo carries out precision processing on the data to ensure the data are fresh, rich, and accurate.

Basic map products:
In order to meet customer demand, NavInfo strictly complies with the requirements of TS 16949 and Automotive SPICE standards, and implements strict quality control in the whole process of e-maps production. For high-precision navigation e-map products, NavInfo always adheres to the mode of fully field acquisition and validation with its more than 600 data acquisition engineers and more than 100 operating vehicles across the country.
To maximize data timeliness, NavInfo has established a set of quick update systems for the products with effectively updated mileage of more than 1.7 million kilometers per year. A highly up-to-date, high precision, and highly detailed navigation e-map database has been formed centering around Beijing and covering the whole country, with the data production capacity of four times of updates annually for China's major cities and regions and two times per year for secondary important regions. Through production process improvements, NavInfo has realized the release of 4 versions of products every year, shortening the release cycle to 3 months.
In order to meet the needs of different customers, NavInfo makes available e-map products meeting a variety of specifications, including: Europe’s leading next-generation standard physical storage format (PSF)--NDS; mainstream global standard format--GDF, RDF, and NAVSTREET; Japan’s standard PSF--KIWI, SIM; and NavInfo’s interchange format with independent copyright-- NIMIF; etc.
Incremental update service: Because of the many steps in producing digital map from data acquisition to terminal retail, it takes months or even half a year for the product to appear in the market, resulting in the lack of freshness of the user map. Currently, users of vehicle-mounted pre-installed navigation system have to return to the 4S shops for data update, which makes this process monotonous and a bit troublesome.
NavInfo is committed to utilizing incremental update technology to allow users to update the changed part of their map on real-time basis, which is an innovative practice in value-added services of map products in the international scope.
Through further integration of the advanced map production and management techniques with the vehicle-mounted intelligent communication technology, NavInfo is able to provide a whole new online update mode with smaller amount of data, faster transmission speeds, and more effective update range, effectively enhancing the usage experience of the navigation products.
NavInfo incremental update technique can be realized through the support of wireless data network, mobile storage devices, etc.
－ Automatic updates: Each time the user starts the car, the system automatically updates the data of the vehicle location and the destination to the latest version through mobile network, etc.
－ Manual updates: The data of the areas specified by the user can be updated to the latest version through mobile storage devices, etc.
Products of NDS standard map format:
NDS is the next generation of physical storage format of navigation maps. NDS Association was established under the leadership of international mainstream auto manufacturers and system operators (such as BMW, Volkswagen, Daimler, Alpine, Bosch, etc.), aiming to make joint efforts to develop a new set of a new Navigation Data Standard (NDS) specifications suitable for the future development of automobile manufacturers, system suppliers and map suppliers, so as to improve the useage efficiency of navigation map, reduce the cost, and promote the popularity of navigation products.
After 4 years of research and development, relying on its leading world-class technical advantages, NavInfo has successful developed NDS map products and compiler tools, and become the world's only data company that can provide NDS standard format compiler technology, high quality NDS navigation maps, and NDS-based incremental update technology, making NavInfo itself an important driving force for the development of the next generation navigation maps. Until now, NavInfo has provided NDS navigation map product for BMW’s newly launched model, representing the internationally first NDS standard product. The product has not only met the stringent requirements of BMW and other international clients on navigation map products, and passed BMW's global evaluation, but also provided strong background support for the future commercial applications of NDS format based data, laying a solid foundation for the company to win orders from more automobile manufacturers in the future.
ADAS high-precision map products: ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) relies on the high-precision digital maps and various sensors installed in the vehicle, senses the surrounding environment at any time during the traveling, collects data and carries out systematic calculations and analyses in combination with the high-precision digital map so as to make the driver aware of possible dangers and effectively increase the comfortableness and safety of automobile driving.
NavInfo is the earliest map manufacturer for the development and production of ADAS high-precision digital maps. Its ADAS products incorporate data road shape, topology and other advanced properties that support ADAS functions such as road grades, curve curvature, speed limit value, etc. Through matching the vehicle’s current position with the upcoming section on the map that the vehicle is pulling into, and analyzing the situation on the road ahead, the system provides important highway information forecast, notifying the driver or assisting the operation before the occurrence of potential dangerous situation, which results in better energy efficiency, safety and convenience of the vehicle.
3D map data:
NavInfo 3D map data enhance map display, brings immersive 3D navigation experience for users, and enables them to easily identify positions in unfamiliar or complex environments. In order to provide richer map service features and better user experience, NavInfo has developed 3D building icons, 3D landmark models, 3D building models, 3D streets, topography models and other various visual enhancements properties.
Voice recognition map products:
Voice recognition map products refer to the intelligent speech technology represented by voice recognition and speech synthesis. When applied in the automotive field, the voice navigation function changes the tradition operation mode of watching with the eye and operating with the hand, liberates the driver’s hands and eyes, and render the car with more humanized charm and personalized features.
As the first map manufacturer in China that participates in the development and production of voice map data, NavInfo has established an extensive voice map database, introduces more accurate pronunciation conversion technology into the navigation map production process, and thus ensures the accuracy of voice recognition and speech synthesis, and realizes the smart fusion of the speech technologies and the navigation map, which directly changes the way people use maps.
Pedestrian navigation map products:
In 2009, NavInfo launched China's first instance of pedestrian navigation products which centers on the pedestrian and provides map content information with positioning and navigation functions relating to walking and public transport. NavInfo keeps pace with the international standards in the field of pedestrian navigation map data, and has currently covered 41 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macau. Pedestrian navigation data products mainly include useful information for bus transfers, underground passages, across-street bridges; crosswalks, walking ladders, and part of the pedestrian facilities not open to traffic.
The pedestrian navigation map data not only allow NavInfo map data to develop from serving vehicles to pedestrians, but also make the whole-process management of people’s traveling possible, and thus open a new era of pedestrian navigation.
Indoor map and parking navigation map products: More than 80% of human information is related to their spatial location; an average of 80-90% of a person’s time is spent indoors; and 70% of mobile phone use activities and 80% of data connection activities of a person are carried out indoors. Therefore, indoor navigation e-map is very important for human life.
NavInfo indoor navigation map data rely on the indoor positioning technologies and incorporate the Internet of Things technologies to provide a full range of navigation and location-based services in the indoor environment, realizing door-to-door navigation in a true sense. The indoor map utilizes geometric vector data to show the geometric, attributive, and topologic information of all indoor spatial elements. Compared with outdoor maps, the indoor map pays more attention to the display of internal elements in smaller areas, with larger proportional scale, higher precision and more details.
Detailed POI Detailed POI means that the POI not only contains the basic attribute information such as location, name, address, telephone number, etc., but also website, fax, business hours, photos, and other descriptive information. NavInfo produces detailed POI for pharmacies, banks, convenience stores, fast food restaurants, high grade catering, hotels, tourism attractions, gas stations, charging stations, car parks and other POI categories.
